Activated transcription factors (TFs) are important switch points in cell differentiation and cell signaling. Their interaction with the polymerase can increase the transcription rate of target genes drastically.

TF activation occurs mostly by means of protein kinases at the end of cell signaling cascades. Conventional methods in TF analysis solely focus on the presence of the TF transcripts or TF proteins. As cells set many TFs aside in their inactivated form to enable short response times to incoming signals, these methods offer no information on the biological activity of the TF protein.

The TF Chip kits provide multiplex analysis of 8 - 12 TF activities in one assay. TF Chip Stem Cell Kit monitors prominent differentiation events, while the TF Chip MAPK Kit enables to analyze the cellular mechanisms behind diseases or applied drugs.
