PCRclean + protein-free
PCR clean & protein-free
PCR clean & protein-free consumables are meant to be used for the preparation, handling, storage, quantification or analysis of genetic substances (nucleic acid) and proteins.
PCR clean & protein-free consumables are:

Which requirements does "PCR clean & protein-free" fulfill?
Free of human DNA: It must be guaranteed that all consumables and tips are free of contaminating nucleic acid which might have an influence on the results or reactions. This is normally human DNA, which could infiltrate the plastic goods during the production process (e.g. via skin particles). Our clean room production prevents this type of contamination best possible.
- Absence of human DNA is tested and monitored in a PCR test which can detect quantities smaller than a single human cell (≤2 pg DNA).

DNase and RNase free: Especially very low amounts of genetic substances (nucleic acid) must be protected from degrading enzymes (DNases and RNases). Thus, all consumables and tips must be free of these impurities. Contaminations with DNase and RNase might influence the analysis (e.g. quantification) and experiments.
- Absence of DNase and RNase is tested, as reaction buffers with DNA and RNA are incubated at 37ºC in the consumables for several hours. After this incubation, the integrity of the nucleic acid will be tested via electrophoresis.
Free of PCR inhibitors: If the sample is determined to be used in a PCR reaction, all consumables used within the workflow (e.g. tips, tubes, plates and cuvettes) should guarantee this quality (see also PCR clean).
- The consumables are tested in a separate PCR experiment (Limit of initial amount: less than 10 amplificable targets) to ascertain whether they are contaminated with substances which may inhibit the amplification procedure.
Free of protein: For several experiments it must also be guaranteed that all used consumables and tips are free of contaminating proteins which might influence the results or reactions.
- Absence of protein is tested and monitored in a colorimetric protein assay which can detect down to 1ng/ µL.
Only those consumables that have passed all the necessary tests will be labelled PCR clean & protein-free.
