Eppendorf Moments

I've always loved Eppendorf products, and if I ran my own lab I would buy all my big equipment from Eppendorf. My Eppendorf moment was when I realised not just how important ergonomics should be do products, but also how disability-inclusive ergonomic products can be.

During my PhD, I developed tennis elbow from doing too many qPCRs which an old set of Gilsons. When I had the opportunity to buy my own fresh set of pipettes when I started my post doc I went straight to my Eppendorf rep! I decided on the Reference 2s and my lab, with their competitors pipettes, were so jealous!

I have a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos syndrome which means my joints are really flexible. I often feel my thumb slipping out of joint squeezing squeezy bottles! One day, after putting my E.coli on to grow, I decided to learn more about antibodies. So, I got my white board and started drawing... until I couldn't! Yes, I dislocated my thumb drawing antibodies!

Everyone told me to pop down to the walk-in centre to get it checked. But what about my E.coli?! I wasn't about to let that go to waste! I needed to aliquot it into 1.5ml tubes and save the cell pellet and questioned how on earth I was going to manage with a thumb three times its normal size.

I didn't need to question it. Eppendorf pipettes are so light, that I could pipette with no problem! Labelling my tubes was a different matter. If Eppendorf ever make a dislocation proof pen, I'll be first in the queue!

I work in a lab and we had massive issues with reproducibility for our assays due to pipetting. Since switching to Eppendorf pipettes we see far greater reproducibility and quality of the work we do.

I was hired at my current lab at the peak of COVID-19 as a Lab Assistant. We started testing for COVID in May,

and it has taken a toll on the Lab Personnel in terms of aliquoting samples. Every day we receive a mountainous amount of COVID samples in addition to our normal amount of Toxicology. To tackle them, is our only Eppendorf (we have other branded pipettes, but the Eppendorf is the most efficient) . We love it so much and it has saved our thumbs from the repetition of pipetting small samples across the PCR plates. We love your products and would appreciate an extra or two.

I was part of a drug development program and it was on my culture day that I was doing tons of pipetting during. Thanks to eppendorf pipettes, its user friendly design and smooth knobbing system, gosh it saved my thumb!!

After years of using eppendorf pipette, reduced much of the “strength” required for PCR work, especially when handling with small volume of sample (0.5 uL). Definitely a huge support in Eppendorf product. Not to additionally mention how decent their 6-well cell culture plate are, ultra-low evaporation is what you will get.

Starting graduate school in a pandemic naturally came along with some challenges of being in lab. As part of my curriculum, I rotated in a couple of different labs and they all had Eppendorf pipettes! It was comforting to know that I didn't have to learn how to use new equipment. Despite COVID restrictions, I was able to complete some experiments with the help of Eppendorf pipettes and present my work! Thanks for being so reliable for all these years!

My lab used to buy cheap 1.5ml-0.5ml tubes and everytime we had to boil samples in a heat block the caps would pop open and we would lose sample/ lead to potential contamination.

I convinced my lab to get the eppendorf safelock tubes. They’re absolutely amazing. IT SAVES MY SAMPLES! No more worries. Protocols run smoothly now.

Okay well, let me say first I'm just a newbie among all you lab workers, I'm writing my thesis for Biotec degree and I first came into a micropipette in 2017 during one of the first lab experience lessons. We were taught how to manage concentrations of reagents both with traditional pipette & micropipette, I was in the second group so first learnt the manual one... When I tried the other (yeah, an Eppendorf one, that's why I started following you on FB ^^) I was mesmerized and the doc helping us laughed at me, he said "micropipettes are companions and lucky charms for us here in lab life, they save our projects" so yeah, I hope I'll have luck with this and in my future lab life too :D

After using regular pipettes for manual RNA viral extractions for 48 samples I put my hand on a eppendorf pippete. My life was changed. I can do eppendorf all day but not the regular ones... Thank you eppendorf.

Using other brands of pipettes has caused me to develop tendinitis in my thumb due to the stiff spring. Switching to eppendorf pipettes has dramatically decreased my pain when working in lab for many hours. Would not use anything else!
