Since RNA isolation using TRIzol is freely scalable, sample volumes may fall between 2 and 5 mL, depending on the starting material. Such preparations cannot be performed in the classic microcentrifuge tubes up to 2 mL. These volumes may be prepared easily, and with good yield, in the Eppendorf Tubes® 5.0 mL.
