ViscoTip® - For Viscous Liquids

Product Information

Let it flow! ViscoTip syringe tips have been optimized for pipetting viscous liquids, with the ability to handle the most viscous of samples with up to 14,000 mPa*s (e.g., glycerol 99.5 %, liquid detergents, collagen, oils, nail polish, shampoo, ointments). So, if you need to dispense high viscosity liquids and you want to do it with ease, turn to ViscoTip from Eppendorf.

Easily master highly viscous liquids with your Multipette® from Eppendorf!

The latest member of the Combitips® advanced dispenser tip family, ViscoTip syringe tips, are specifically designed and optimized for handling highly viscous liquids. This includes liquids with viscosities up to 14,000 mPa*s, such as glycerol 99.5 %, Tween®, oils, creams, shampoos, nail polish - even honey. Save time by dispensing up to 100 times with one filling, and with sharply reduced operating forces, dispensing is faster, and your Multipette® battery charge lasts longer.
Automatic tip recognition and volume calculation of ViscoTip syringe-style dispensing needles with your M4 and E3/E3x multi-dispenser pipettes make your routine work more efficient. Our Application Note 376 provides a framework for recommended working speeds and measurement errors for pipetting liquids with varying viscosity.

Using positive displacement systems for accuracy and safety

Unlike the air-cushion technology in regular pipettes, ViscoTip works like a syringe by using the positive displacement principle. This ensures that the correct volume is dispensed regardless of liquid density, viscosity, volatility, or temperature. The main advantages of using positive displacement systems, including ViscoTip with dispensers, include:

    • The ability to handle non-aqueous or viscous liquids without the need to adjust your pipette, to achieve high precision.
    • Prevention of aerosol contamination with the hermetically sealed piston for secure dispensing.
    • Protection from radioactive and toxic substances.

Ensure ease, comfort, and efficiency when pipetting viscous liquids

When using your ViscoTip syringe tips with Eppendorf M4/E3 or E3x multi-dispensing pipettes, ease and efficiency are ensured. Your lab life is made easier with low operation forces and automatic tip volume recognition, in addition to the digitally displayed dispensing volume and step counter, letting you wave goodbye to time-consuming and error-prone calculations. Save further time and effort with the multi-dispenser capabilities of our pipettes, which are capable of dispensing several times with one tip filling. And after you’ve finished pipetting, you can benefit from the one-handed and contact-free ejection with securely sealed liquids, letting you work faster and more safely. Plus, you can also enhance efficiency with the color-coded double ring and the continuous volume scale on ViscoTip syringe tips, which are distinct from the standard Combitips® advanced tips. This lets you easily and quickly select the right tip when pipetting viscous liquids.

    Viscosity check: ViscoTip vs

    Combitips advanced

Viscous liquids, especially those with a dynamic viscosity of >200 mPa*s, have a high resistance to flow into and out of pipette and dispenser tips. Compared to the standard Combitips advanced tips, ViscoTip syringe tips are specially designed with this resistance in mind, allowing for high pipetting accuracy, safety, and efficiency when pipetting liquids with a viscosity of up to 14,000 mPa*s.

    Example liquids include:

    • Glycerol (50 - 99.5 %)
    • Tween® 20
    • Triton® X-100
    • Collagen
    • Engine oil SAE 90
    • Liquid detergent
    • Paints
    • Honey
    • Food oils
    • Molasses 83°BX V
