Are Eppendorf consumables free of RNA?

All consumables certified with "PCR clean" are tested free of human DNA, DNase, RNase and PCR inhibitors. The following applies from our point of view: where no human DNA is detected, there can also be no RNA, which is considerably more unstable.

Are lot specific certificates for the purity grades available in the internet?

Yes, the lot specific purity certificates, so-called Test report, can be downloaded at the certificates homepage .

Do the Eppendorf LoBind Tubes have the same material durability as all other micro test tubes from Eppendorf?

The Eppendorf LoBind Tubes completely satisfy the specifications of the Eppendorf Standard Safe Lock tubes with reference to centrifugation stability (exception: Protein LoBind Tube), lid tightness, pop up safety and chemical resistance. ( See Application No. 56: The best material for original Eppis. )

Are the Eppendorf LoBind Tubes coated?

No, the Eppendorf LoBind Tubes are neither siliconized nor coated. The low binding affinity results from of a special type of polypropylene and the optimized manucturing process.

Can I use the Protein LoBind Tubes regardless of whether I am working with basic or acidic proteins?

The Protein LoBind Tubes show protein low binding properties for both low and high pH values.

In which temperature range can Eppendorf tubes be used?

For temperature range at which various Eppendorf tube formats (Safe Lock, Conicals) can be used, including autoclaving conditions, please refer to the respective "Instruction for Use": Tubes Conical tubes , SafeCode tubes and SnapTec tubes Instruction for Use of 5 mL Tubes LoBind Tubes

What is the material of the Eppendorf Protein LoBind Tubes and its influence on autoclavability?

The Protein LoBind material is a proprietary polypropylene (PP) blend with lower hydrophobicity allowing strong reduction of molecule binding to the PP surface. It has essentially same physical properties as the standard PP. Regarding autoclaving, please note the following: Our Protein LoBind Tubes 0.5 mL/1.5 mL/ 2.0 mL and 5.0 mL with snap cap withstand autoclaving when opened at 121 °C, 1 bar, 20 minutes. If the use of sterile tubes is needed, we rather recommend checking whether our Safe-Lock Tubes 0.5 mL/1.5 mL/ 2.0 mL and the 5.0 mL tube with snap cap (all without LoBind surface) made in Biopur quality may be more suitable here. The Protein LoBind Tubes 5.0 mL with screw cap, 15 mL/ 25 mL and 50 mL are not autoclavable. Please check whether the standard variants (without LoBind surface) offered in Sterile purity grade may be more suitable here.

Are Eppendorf tubes, plates (also LoBind variants), and pipette tips resistant to 100% acetonitrile?

Eppendorf tubes, plates including LoBind, and pipette tips are resistant to 100% acetonitrile only in room temperature conditions. Above 40°C and prolonged exposure (days) may lead to partial damage and is not recommended. For lower acetonitrile concentrations the resistance parameters will be better so prolonged exposure and higher temperatures may be possible. This must be however tested by the customer.

Superior protein recovery

Eppendorf Protein LoBind^® Tubes for recover significantly more protein compared to other low binding tubes after incubation for 96 h. (See Application Note 180 “Eppendorf LoBind: Evaluation of Protein Recovery in Eppendorf Protein LoBind Tubes and Plates”for more details). Especially beneficial for proteomics, in cooperation with the university clinics in Hamburg, Germany, we showed that the Eppendorf Protein LoBind material abducts less proteins compared to classic glassware. Outstanding signal during MALDI-TOF with Protein LoBind^® Tubes

Protein LoBind^® Tubes help to increase signal intensity during MALDI-TOF analysis, allowing you to detect and analyse at concentrations normally considered undetectable (1 pmol) when compared to standard tubes.
