You can acquire new features for free by downloading the latest software version from the Eppendorf Download Center and transferring it to the Pipette Manager using an USB drive. The update can be started by selecting Menu, Settings, System Settings, Update Software. The software update does not remove any data or settings from your device.

To calibrate Research 3 neo pipetted in accordance with EN ISO 8655, three different volumes with ten measured values each have to be checked. These three volumes are the nominal volume (= the maximum volume to be dispensed), 50% of the nominal volume and 10% of the nominal volume of the Research 3 neo tips used. The checking procedure, the test conditions, and the limits in accordance with EN ISO 8655 are described in the "Eppendorf SOP for checking pipettes" available for download at the product page.

A professional inspection of the Research 3 neo pipette including calibration should be carried out at least once a year, see also EN ISO 8655.
The user decides upon a higher frequency of calibration, the number of test volumes and the number of measurements for each test volume within the framework of monitoring their test materials. This can vary depending on the frequency of use of the pipette, the number of users of the device, the aggressiveness of the liquids to be dispensed and the error limits deemed acceptable by the user.

Please refer to the Operating Manual chapter 7.2 for detailed instructions on how to clean, decontaminate and disinfect the pipette. A detailed list of suitable cleaning agents is provided as well as instructions on how to autoclave, treat the pipette with UV-light and apply H2O2 fumigation.

Yes, the Research 3 neo pipette can be autoclaved at 121°C and 1 bar overpressure for 20 minutes. The pipette should be cleaned, set to unlock and the protection filter and filter sleeve of the 2, 5 and 10 mL pipettes should be removed and autoclaved separately. No further disassembly is required.
Cool the pipette to ambient temperature and let it dry. Greasing is not necessary after autoclaving. For maximum precision and accuracy, a gravimetric test is recommended after autoclaving.

The Research 3 neo pipettes are resistant to UV-C irradiation. Pipettes might show some discoloration, which has no effect on functionality or pipetting performance (accuracy and precision). We recommend the use of an Hg-lamp, 254 nm, 30 W. The distance between lamp and pipettes should be approx. 60 cm. A dosage of up to 1200 J/cm² UV-C (254 nm) has been successfully tested.
