What is required to set up a complete network?

The minimum installation comprises one PC, 1 unit (up to 50 units) X50 without touchscreen interface, and Ethernet cable. When connecting more than 1 Mastercycler X50, an Ethernet hub and an additional Ethernet cable (for the PC to ethernet hub connection) is required.

What is the PC requirement?

Which Ethernet Hubs can be used for the software?

We recommend 100 Mbit to 1 Gbit connections with auto-negotiation.

What are the IT infrastructure requirements?

All X50 devices must be in the same network as the server installation. There are 4 possible installation options: 1. Independent PC-cycler network 2. Local server network 3. Cyclers located at different locations (subnets) 4. Cyclers located at different locations + IT server For more info, please contact your local sales representative.

Which ports need to be whitelisted for the cyclemanager to work?

1. Port 3030 needs to be accessible on the CycleManager X50 server from the client PC(s). 2. Port XXXX needs to be accessible on the bridge PC(s) from the CycleManager X50 server.

How many CycleManager X50 licenses are provided?

One. Since the server is accessed via Google Chrome client, multiple licenses are not needed for multiple users to access the software.

Can I install the software on multiple PCs?

The software needs to be installed on the server PC. All client PCs are accessing the server via Google Chrome.

What is the maximum number of clients that can be connected to the server?

There is no restriction. However, using high numbers of clients accessing the server at the same time might lead to a delayed answer of the server.

Can I access the CycleManager X50 software from outside my organization/lab (e.g home)?

The client PCs can access the server through the same network or through VPN.

Can I connect the X50 eco cyclers directly into my network?

No, the cyclers need to be connected via an ethernet connection to the Bridge PC. This PC can then be connected on a separate connection to the company network. Connecting the Mastercycler X50 “eco” devices directly to the company network is not supported.

Can I connect the PC with the software to the internet?

The server PC can be connected to the internet. However, Eppendorf is not responsible to keep the safety and security of the connected computer.

Is the CycleManager X50 software accessible via other platforms (app; mobile, etc.)?

No, this is currently not possible.

Can I use the PC installed with the software for other applications (e.g. qPCR, sequencing software)?

Yes, it is possible to use the PC for other applications

Can I set-up email notification?

Email notification is possible if the server is connected to an internal mail-server (no encryption)

Can I use a Mastercycler X50 with a touchscreen display in connection with CycleManager X50?

No, the CycleManager X50 software is only meant for X50 cyclers without touchscreen interface.

Is the CycleManager X50 software compatible with older Eppendorf Mastercycler models?

No, the CycleManager X50 is compatible with only Mastercycler X50 (without touchscreen interface) variants.

The CycleManager X50 comes with API feature (GraphQL and Websockets). External software/systems can make use of the API to request and send data from the CyclyManager X50.
