As the successor to Centrifuge CR22N, SpinPro 8 R combines a familiar and comprehensive rotor selection with a new design, larger touch display, updated, sustainable CO2-based cooling, and expanded digital capabilities. Existing Centrifuge CR22N rotors remain compatible, helping laboratories protect their rotor investment while moving to a more modern centrifugation platform.
High-speed performance for large-volume workflows
SpinPro 8 R combines the capacity to process large volumes with the speed and precision to further process your samples in one device. The system reaches up to 22,000 rpm and 58,700 × g (with fixed-angle rotors), with a temperature range from −20 °C to +40 °C. The rotor selection includes options for cell harvesting, high-speed molecular biology applications, bottles, tubes, blood collection tubes, microplates, PCR plates, and deepwell plates.
The new Rotor R5A supports harvesting workflows with 6 x 1,000 mL capacity and up to 6,110 × g. The new swing-bucket Rotor R5SS3 provides 4 x 750 mL capacity and up to 4,830 × g, with adapters for a broad range of vessels and plates. Together with the additional 28 rotors and existing adapters, these options help laboratories adapt the centrifuge to changing protocols and vessel formats.
Designed for intuitive, shared use
A 7-inch color touch display with a modern graphical user interface supports straightforward setup and operation. Up to 99 programs, five-step program sequences, and favorites help users repeat established protocols with fewer manual steps. A distance screen and status light bar provide a quick view of device status, even when users are not directly in front of the control panel. Each user account can choose from a selection of 13 languages.
Automatic rotor recognition, rotor management, rotor lifecycle counting, and imbalance detection support safe and consistent operation. User administration with multiple access levels helps organize shared use, while clear run records support traceability and documentation.
Connectivity and documentation
SpinPro 8 R fits into connected laboratory environments. USB and Ethernet interfaces support data export and device connectivity. Integration options include Eppendorf VisioNize® Lab Suite as well as LIMS and ELN connections using standard protocols. User management, run records, and selectable AuditSafe Mode provide software features and services to support laboratories working toward 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. The system can be configured for direct API-based access, including JSON-RPC.
Sustainability for your discovery
SpinPro 8 R uses CO2 (R744) as refrigerant. With a global warming potential (GWP) of 1, CO2 cooling supports alignment with current regulatory frameworks for refrigerants in laboratory environments. Energy Save Mode, (scheduled) standby functionality, and an aerodynamic bucket design help reduce energy consumption during everyday operation. A regenerative braking system returns braking energy to the power source instead of dissipating it as heat into the room.
