Cuvettes
Lab cuvettes are small containers with straight sides and either a circular or square cross-section. In the lab, they’re essential for optical analysis methods using photometers and spectrophotometers, with their two transparent sides allowing light to pass through the sample for accurate measurement. At Eppendorf, we offer a range of UV Vis cuvettes designed for a wide range of applications, wavelengths, and sample volumes.
Whether you're looking for plastic cuvettes for routine assays or 1 cm cuvettes for standard path length measurements, we have a solution for you. Browse our products below, and find more information to help you choose the right cuvette for your lab needs.

Which Eppendorf cuvettes should I use?
Cuvette material
Our plastic cuvettes – including UVette® and Vis Cuvettes – are disposable, and are ideal for routine UV/Vis or colorimetric assays. Contrastingly, our µCuvette® G1.0 cuvette is made of quartz glass, offering superior transparency for UV applications and microvolume measurements. Read more
Sample volume
Our cuvettes are designed to work for you and your assays, accommodating a wide range of sample volumes:
- 1.5 - 10 µL – Eppendorf µCuvette® G1.0
- 50 - 2,000 µL - UVette®
- 400 - 3,000 µL* – Eppendorf semi-micro Vis Cuvette
- 1,000 - 4,500 µL* – Eppendorf macro Vis Cuvette
* Minimum sample volumes using Eppendorf photometers, the minimum capacity may vary when using third-party instruments.

Path length
Eppendorf Vis Cuvettes and UVette® cuvettes are 1 cm cuvettes (10 mm path length), offering high sensitivity for lower concentration samples. Contrastingly, if you’re working with higher concentration samples, including nucleic acids and proteins, cuvettes with a lower path length may be more suitable, as they can reliably measure high concentrations without the need for dilution. Eppendorf UVette® cuvettes are available with a 2 mm path length, and our µCuvette® G1.0 has a 1 mm path length.

Application
Eppendorf µCuvette® G1.0 and UVettes® are both designed for measurements in the UV and visible light range (light transmission ranges of 180 – 2,000 nm and 220 – 1,600 nm respectively), making them suitable for applications like DNA/protein quantification. Contrastingly, Vis cuvettes are suitable for visible light applications like colorimetric assays and bacterial growth, with a light transmission of 300 nm to 900 nm.
