Career Level: Direct Entry
Employment: Fulltime, permanent
Start: Immediately
Location: San Francisco, CA
Job-ID: R11576
Company: Eppendorf North America, Inc.
Improving human living conditions – that is our shared purpose at Eppendorf. With our high-quality, precise premium life science products – from pipette tips, dispensers and centrifuges to bioreactors and ultra-low temperature freezers – we help scientists around the world conduct research in the lab faster, more accurately and more efficiently.
I listen to truly understand.
I lead the way, even when the path ahead is not yet clear.
I stand by what I say.
I make progress visible and share what I learn.
If this resonates with you, you are exactly who we are looking for.
You will work with people who combine different perspectives and make new things possible. You contribute your ideas, ask questions, challenge the status quo – and you will find an environment that empowers you and helps you grow. Because we believe in people who want to shape the future. People like you.
How you can make an impact
Perform service efficiently and effectively on bioprocess instruments and equipment, including installation, operator training, preventive maintenance, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, adjustments, calibrations, alignments and part replacement.
Follow service manuals, technical procedures and instructions consistently, while accurately documenting all work, billing and quality records in‑house, on‑site at customer facilities or remotely.
Build and maintain a high level of technical knowledge for assigned systems, serving as a reliable expert for customers and internal colleagues.
Create a high level of customer satisfaction by combining excellent technical skills with clear, professional communication and a proactive, service‑oriented attitude.
Generate and share cross‑selling leads with sales colleagues, helping to identify new opportunities and support business growth through your customer interactions.
Manage spare‑parts inventory and company assets responsibly – including company tools, test equipment and vehicle – in line with all inventory control policies and procedures.
Travel extensively and sometimes overnight, often on short notice, within and occasionally beyond your territory to support customer needs and Eppendorf Service requirements.
What sets you apart
Bringing an associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school, or comparable military training, combined with approximately three to five years of related field service experience and/or training.
Strong hands‑on technical skills in installation, troubleshooting, calibration and repair of complex instruments or equipment, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
A structured, reliable working style: you plan your service calls carefully, keep documentation and billing accurate and up to date, and manage your time efficiently across multiple requests.
Customer‑focused communication skills – written and verbal – that help you explain technical topics clearly, set realistic expectations and build trust with users in laboratories and production environments.
Proven ability to work independently in the field while staying closely connected with service coordination, management and colleagues to align priorities and share information.
High sense of responsibility for safety, quality and compliance, consistently following service procedures and quality guidelines.
A valid driver’s license with a good driving record, and the flexibility and willingness to travel extensively, including routine and short‑notice overnight trips.
