Stem cell research is a broad field, dealing with embryonic and adult stem cells (e.g. mesenchymal and neural stem cells) or induced pluripotent cells. Scientists hope to gain valuable insights from the study of stem cells, e.g. in developmental biology. Understanding cell cycle control, cell specialization, and cell-host interactions are some of the challenges.
