Forensic DNA Grade
Human DNA contamination is one of the main concerns in forensic DNA analysis. The ISO 18385 has been implemented to further minimize the risk of DNA contamination. This standard specifies requirements for manufacturing products used in the collection, storage and analysis of biological material for forensic purposes.
Highly automated production lines and stringent access controls are only two production conditions for “Eppendorf Forensic DNA Grade“ consumables which contribute in fulfilling ISO 18385. Individually blistered packaging or “mini batches” in re-sealable bags provide effective protection against contamination.

Monitored purity
Eppendorf consumables exemplify highest quality and performance. The test parameters and sensitivity levels of the "Eppendorf Forensic DNA Grade" correspond to the requirements of the ISO 18385 standard and are subject to strict controls.
All tests performed to verify the certified purity parameters are carried out by an independent external testing laboratory which is accredited in accordance with ISO 17025 - the same accreditation standard which is applied to forensic laboratories.
Lot specific certificates provided by the testing laboratory
confirm the compliance with the criteria DNase-, RNase-, PCR
inhibitor-, and human DNA-free*. The certificates are available on our website.
In accordance with the requirements of the standard, a staff-DNA exclusion database has been established in order to be able to support a forensic laboratory in solving a potential DNA contamination. Please contact certificates@eppendorf.de for further information.
In accordance with the ISO 18385 standard, a procedure is in place to notify customers who purchased products from a released production lot which has subsequently been found to have failed relevant product or quality specifications. Customers who have registered such a production lot are informed by e-mail. To register your Forensic DNA Grade production lot(s) please contact certificates@eppendorf.de.
