How many channels do I need?

1-channel dispensing tools – Best for providing flexibility and precision in low-throughput workflows. Provide maximum control when working with non-standard layouts or varying volumes. Ideal for complex protocols, tube-based sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction set up, master mix preparation, and more.

4-channel dispensing tools – Offer greater speed and efficiency than 1-channel dispensing tools, as shown in the video below. Suitable applications include partial 96-well plate filling, medium-throughput assays, plate reformatting, method development, and pilot studies.

8-channel dispensing tools – Ideal for a range of standardized workflows including 96-well plate processing, qPCR and PCR setup, ELISA assays, and routine sample normalization. Aligns with standard 96-well and 384-well microplate formats, making 8-channel dispensing tools ideal for a range of routine lab automation tasks.

How accurate are epMotion dispensing tools?

As outlined in our whitepaper, epMotion dispensing tools support accurate and precise handling of very small volumes, including sub‑microliter dispensing. In application testing with qPCR setup, volumes as low as 0.2 µL were dispensed with high reproducibility, delivering consistent assay performance. Automation reduces operator‑dependent variability and helps maintain consistency across runs. This is particularly important for miniaturized workflows where small deviations can significantly affect results. Also, to help you maintain dependable performance over time, our dispensing tools are autoclavable and calibrated in accordance with ISO 8655‑6.

What volume variants are available?

Our single-, four-, and eight-channel epMotion dispensing tools support these working volumes:
• 0.2 – 10 µL (single-channel and eight-channel variants only)
• 1.0 – 50 µL
• 20 – 300 µL
• 40 – 1,000 µL

The following accessories are available to help optimize your automated liquid handling workflows using epMotion dispensing tools:

Dispensing tool holder – Stores up to six dispensing tools directly on the worktable, enabling quick tool changes and uninterrupted operation in multi-step methods.

Gripper (with holder) – The autoclavable epMotion gripper expands automation capabilities by transporting plates on your worktable and enabling automated operation of the vacuum manifold.
