Do ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. and/or ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. SealMax prevent vapour from hazardous liquids to enter the pipette cone? (e.g. fuming acids)
The principle of the Dualfilter (in ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. and ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. SealMax and their biobased variants) is to protect from aerosols, meaning small liquid droplets in the air and for SealMax also from liquid splashes. Gaseous vapour/fume from liquid samples is not retained by any filter. To protect the lower part of a pipette, it is best to use a lower part made of PTFE (higher chemical resistance, to withstand highly aggressive chemicals (e.g. TFA)). Please note that Eppendorf offers a PTFE lower part for some single-channel Research plus and Reference 2 pipettes. Important to bear in mind when using it: A lower pipette part made of PTFE is not autoclavable as PTFE is not dimensionally stable under heat. Pipette calibration is recommended after replacing the lower part.

How can I adjust my air-cushion pipette for challenging liquids, long tips, or higher/lower altitudes?
In contrast to mechanical pipettes, the electronic Xplorer/Xplorer plus pipettes can be adjusted for the entire range of volume. Additionally, the electronic pipettes offer several options for adjusting the pipette in the "Options" menu, e.g. to 75 % ethanol, altitude, elongated tips. Furthermore, individual adjustments are possible, as 1-point, 2-point or 3-point settings. For more information see User Guide 036.
Temporary user adjustments can be reset to manufacturer settings without recalibration.

How can one ensure that the pipette tips sit perfectly on the work cones of the multi-channel pipettes?
The new O-rings are maintenance free and made of silicone. The new and the old rings are differentiated by the new red color.
We recommend to exchange the old O-rings. Order no. for multi-channel pipettes 100 / 300 µl: 4908 836.001 (12 pieces)
Order no. for multi-channel pipettes 1200 µl: 4908 716.009 (8 pieces).

How often should the Research 3 neo pipette be calibrated?
The user decides upon a higher frequency of calibration, the number of test volumes and the number of measurements for each test volume within the framework of monitoring their test materials. This can vary depending on the frequency of use of the pipette, the number of users of the device, the aggressiveness of the liquids to be dispensed and the error limits deemed acceptable by the user.
