Mechanical multi-channel pipettes

When deciding which Eppendorf multi-channel pipette is right for you, the first consideration is whether you should choose a mechanical or electronic multi-channel pipette. Generally, mechanical multi-channel pipettes are a lower-cost option, with easier maintenance and full autoclavability. This makes this type of multi-channel micropipette a great everyday option for your lab. There are various Eppendorf mechanical multi-channel pipette models to choose from, including the Eppendorf Reference® 2 . This pipette is fully autoclavable and easy to clean, with minimal grooves and moving parts. The Reference 2 also features innovative single-button operation, so your thumb doesn’t need to move between different buttons, allowing for streamlined and simplified multi-channel pipetting.

Our other mechanical multi-channel pipette, the Eppendorf Research® plus is another great option. This model has received the SelectScience® Seal of Quality in Gold, which is a testament to its high quality, precision, and ergonomics. Research plus Move It® adjustable tip spacing pipettes are also available, which are ideal for those changing between different vessel types, like gels, tubes, and plates.

Electronic multi-channel pipettes

How many channels do you need?

When choosing a multi-channel pipette, the number of channels you need will depend on your intended applications. If you’re mostly filling PCR tube strips or 96-well plates, 8- or 12-channel pipettes are most suitable. For higher-throughput applications that require 384-well plates, 16- or 24-channel pipettes offer greater efficiency.
