How anaerob bacteria affect the climate
Anja’s main goal as a post-doc is to reduce the effects of global warming starting with small organisms – bacteria. Her scientific project is about studying the metabolism hydrogen and carbon dioxide converting bacteria. Naturally these bacteria produce acetate. The aim of her studies is to genetically modify these bacteria to produce valuable chemicals, such as ethanol or lactate, from industrial carbon dioxide output.
Watch Anja's full interview and learn more about her motivation of becoming and being a scientist.
Anja's favorite lab device is the centrifuge, because it helps her with the every day tasks, is reliable and quiet.
