            Applikation
            Mit PCR Films & Foils können Platten effektiv abgedichtet werden.
            Eppendorf PCR Films und Foils bieten eine effektive und luftdichte Plattenversiegelung, um PCR-Proben bei Temperaturwechseln und bei der Aufbewahrung besser zu schützen. PCR-Verschließfolien weisen eine hervorragende Chemikalienbeständigkeit auf und wurden auf ihre Beständigkeit gegenüber einer Auswahl gängiger Laborsubstanzen untersucht. Zur Minimierung von Signalverlusten bei qPCR sind Spezialverschlüsse mit optimalen optischen Eigenschaften verfügbar.

            Probleme bei der Auswahl? Eppendorf bietet eine Auswahl verschiedener Verschlusssysteme für Mikrotestplatten wie z. B.:

            • Film- oder Foil-Klebeverschlüsse
            • Verschlussmatten
            • Plattendeckel
            • Heatsealing-Films oder Foils

            Adhesive films or foils


            • Adhesive films or foils are glued the plate surface.
            • Simple handling; however, diligent and equal pressure are necessary to ensure good protection from evaporation.
            • Possible influence of the adhesive on the sample has to be taken into consideration.
            • Optimal adhesion only at PCR temperatures and should not be used for storage applications.

            Sealing mats


            • Reusable mats made from an elastomer.
            • The plate can be opened and re-sealed at any time.
            • The mat needs to be compatible with the plate (round/square wells).

            Plate lids


            • Reusable transparent lid made from polystyrene.
            • Simplest and fastest closure option.
            • Mainly used as a temporary cover and for short incubations, since protection from evaporation is limited compared to other sealing options.

            PCR Film and Foil (self-adhesive)Heat-sealing foils and films (requires a plate sealer)


            • Heat-sealed foils and films are welded to the plates using a heat-sealing device.
            • Very secure and effective heat seal.
            • Only suitable for plates made from polypropylene or similar materials (including Eppendorf twin.tec® PCR Plates)
            • A raised rim around the individual wells is required for heat seals.

            Which sealing system should I choose for my PCR plates?


            PCR sealing film or foil?


            The right sealing option will highly depend on your intended application. The first choice you should make is whether foils or films are most suitable. In general, foils are well-suited for light-sensitive samples. Foils can also be easily pierced, meaning your samples can be transferred via a needle or automated system. On the other hand, films are a more practical option if you need transparency for optical measurements (e.g. qPCR) and protection from unintended piercing.

            Permanent or temporary sealing?


            Another key consideration is whether your seal needs to be permanent or temporary. If you need permanent sealing, heat-sealing foils and films are a durable long-term option, providing strong protection against evaporation. For applications requiring temporary sealing, self-adhesive options and sealing mats are an ideal choice, offering easy, residue-free removal.

            Conducting qPCR?


            Masterclear real-time PCR film is optimized for maximum light transmission. Transmission values of > 90 % between 350 nm and 750 nm guarantee optimal excitation of your fluorescent dyes and optimal readout of the emitted fluorescence.

            Using automated systems?


            Our Heat Sealing Foils are made of aluminum. They provide a strong heat seal that prevents evaporation, even with low sample volumes. They also can be easily pierced by autosamplers, making them particularly well-suited for high-throughput automated assays.
