Are Eppendorf tubes, plates (also LoBind variants), and pipette tips resistant to 100% acetonitrile?
Eppendorf tubes, plates including LoBind, and pipette tips are resistant to 100% acetonitrile only in room temperature conditions. Above 40°C and prolonged exposure (days) may lead to partial damage and is not recommended. For lower acetonitrile concentrations the resistance parameters will be better so prolonged exposure and higher temperatures may be possible. This must be however tested by the customer.

Are the Eppendorf LoBind Tubes coated?
No, the Eppendorf LoBind Tubes are neither siliconized nor coated. The low binding affinity results from of a special type of polypropylene and the optimized manucturing process.

Are the Eppendorf PP Microplates in LoBind quality coated or siliconized?
No, the LoBind quality of the Eppendorf PP Microplates is not derived from siliconization or any other type of coating. The functionality is achieved through a carefully selected material, in combination with a special manufacturing process.

Are the Eppendorf Tubes® 5.0 mL available with the same purities and LoBind variants as the small micro centrifugation tubes from Eppendorf?
The Eppendorf Tubes® 5.0 mL are available in the purity grades Eppendorf Quality, PCR clean and Biopur® and also in the purity grade Sterile. In addition to irradiation for sterilization, this also includes certified testing for the absence of pyrogens. The tubes are also available as DNA LoBind and Protein LoBind variants.

Can I use the Protein LoBind Tubes regardless of whether I am working with basic or acidic proteins?
The Protein LoBind Tubes show protein low binding properties for both low and high pH values.

Do the Eppendorf LoBind Tubes have the same material durability as all other micro test tubes from Eppendorf?
The Eppendorf LoBind Tubes completely satisfy the specifications of the Eppendorf Standard Safe Lock tubes with reference to centrifugation stability (exception: Protein LoBind Tube), lid tightness, pop up safety and chemical resistance. (See Application No. 56: The best material for original Eppis.)

What distinguishes the DNA LoBind Tube from a "Standard" Safe-Lock Tube?
In comparison to a Safe-Lock Tube, the DNA LoBind Tube shows significantly less DNA bonding affinity. This effect is most apparent with high salt concentrations and when working with short DNA fragments. The DNA LoBind Tube is therefore especially suitable for applications that should be carried out with the minimum loss of nucleic acid material.

What distinguishes the Protein LoBind Tube from a "Standard" Safe-Lock Eppendorf tube?
The Protein LoBind Tube shows, in comparison to a Safe-Lock Tube, significantly less protein binding affinity. The Protein LoBind Tube is therefore especially suitable for applications with the lowest quantities of protein.

What is the material of the Eppendorf Protein LoBind Tubes and its influence on autoclavability?
The Protein LoBind material is a proprietary polypropylene (PP) blend with lower hydrophobicity allowing strong reduction of molecule binding to the PP surface. It has essentially same physical properties as the standard PP. Regarding autoclaving, please note the following:
Our Protein LoBind Tubes 0.5 mL/1.5 mL/ 2.0 mL and 5.0 mL with snap cap withstand autoclaving when opened at 121 °C, 1 bar, 20 minutes. If the use of sterile tubes is needed, we rather recommend checking whether our Safe-Lock Tubes 0.5 mL/1.5 mL/ 2.0 mL and the 5.0 mL tube with snap cap (all without LoBind surface) made in Biopur quality may be more suitable here.
The Protein LoBind Tubes 5.0 mL with screw cap, 15 mL/ 25 mL and 50 mL are not autoclavable. Please check whether the standard variants (without LoBind surface) offered in Sterile purity grade may be more suitable here.
