Our refrigerated centrifuges are designed for ease-of-use and efficiency, making sample separation a breeze. All our models have user-intuitive interfaces and an ergonomic design, with aerosol-tight Eppendorf QuickLock^® rotors* for fast and ergonomic lid locking.

With the FastTemp^® pre-cooling function*, centrifuges can reach their required temperature within just minutes. Efficiency can be taken even further with the FastTemp pro^® function, available with Eppendorf Centrifuge 5430 R. Set your centrifuge to specific temperatures at your required time and date, so you can leave behind the days of waiting for your centrifuge to cool.

Safety

Safety is a top priority with Eppendorf refrigerated centrifuges. All of our models (including Centrifuge 5702 R, 5804 R, 5810 R, 5430 R, and 5427 R) have imbalance sensors, which prevent the centrifuge from spinning if an unbalanced weight is detected. Automatic rotor recognition is also available in most of our refrigerated benchtop centrifuge models, which prevents the speed from exceeding the rotor’s safety limit.

Our temperature-controlled centrifuge components, aerosol-tight rotors and caps, also provide maximum safety and biosecurity. Complete sealing ensures any hazardous samples like viruses, pathogen bacteria, blood, or radioactive probes are contained, preventing any potential exposure.

Sustainability

Refrigerated centrifuges can contribute toward global warming, with the use of greenhouse gases like hydrofluorocarbons. In our mission towards lab sustainability, we have developed Centrifuge 5427 R . This Eppendorf refrigerated microcentrifuge uses more environmentally friendly hydrocarbons as cooling agents, enhancing sustainability without compromising on performance. Over time, we will change to more sustainable cooling agents in our entire refrigerated centrifuge range.

Another key environmental challenge associated with refrigerated centrifuges is the energy required to maintain cool temperatures. Our models feature an ECO shut-off mode, automatically turning off the machine after 8 hr of inactivity. This function can save up to 88 % of energy overnight, helping to reduce the environmental impact of refrigerated centrifuges.

Selecting the right refrigerated centrifuge for your lab can depend on a multitude of factors, including your application, throughput, and available floor space:

1. Application

When needing a cooling centrifuge to suit a variety of lab applications, our versatile models including Centrifuge 5430 R (benchtop) and Centrifuge CR30NX (floor-standing) are excellent options. These models have maximum speeds of up to 30,130 × g and 110,000 x g respectively, with a wide range of compatible rotor types.

For applications like isolating organelles, extracellular vesicles, and viruses, our refrigerated ultracentrifuges are the go-to option. This includes Centrifuge CP-NX Series and Centrifuge CS-(F)NX Series, which can reach maximum speeds of up to 803,000 × g and 1,050,000 × g respectively.

2. Sample throughput

Throughput is an important consideration when choosing a refrigerated centrifuge. If your lab processes a large number of samples, we have many high-throughput models available. This includes the refrigerated benchtop Centrifuge 5427 R, Centrifuge 5920 R, and Centrifuge 5910 Ri. Our highest capacity centrifuges are the floor-standing Centrifuge CR22N and Centrifuge CR30NX machines, supporting up to 6 L per run.

3. Floor space

If floor space in your lab is limited, our benchtop refrigerated centrifuge models may be the most practical choice. When needing ultra-high speeds in a confined lab space, Centrifuge CS-(F)NX Series is your best option. This ultracentrifuge is available as a compact benchtop or floor-standing model, offering speeds of up to 1,050,000 x g, and noise levels below 45 dB(A), for high performance and practicality within a busy lab environment.
