Production Waste
Production requires the use of raw materials, but not all materials are ultimately incorporated in the final product. There is remaining waste. In some countries, the term “waste-free production” is used to describe an environmentally friendly improvement that leads away from the practice of sending waste to a landfill (waste-to-dump) to incineration (waste-to-energy) and finally to recycling (waste-to-raw-material). We have embraced waste-free production as a standard practice at our major centrifuge manufacturing facility in Germany for many years, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and innovation.
When our CNC machines mill aluminum rotors and bore holes during production of the centrifuge rotors, all the resulting fragments are automatically collected. These fragments, known as swarf, constitutes a high-grade resource for recycling.
The remaining waste is collected by a certified partner company and completely sorted into two streams, recycling and incineration (mainly waste-to-energy).
