What are Combitips advanced made of?

The cylinder is made of polypropylene (PP) and the piston is made of polyethylene (PE).

How are the Combitips advanced tested during production?

Random samples are removed from each batch of Combitips advanced and tested with a calibrated Mulitipette plus.

What purity grades are available for the Combitips advanced?

The Combitips advanced are available in the purity grades "Eppendorf quality", "PCR clean", "Biopur", "Forensic DNA Grade" and "Sterile" (only available in North America).

Which certificates are available for Combitips advanced?

Besides lot specific Test Reports for Combitips advanced made in "PCR clean", "Biopur" and "Forensic DNA Grade" several general quality certificates are available. Please refer to the "Certificates" tab on the Combitps advanced online product page for general quality certificates. For lot specific Test Reports, please refer to the "lot spec" tab on www.eppendorf.com/certificates .

Are Standard Combitips advanced also sterile?

No. Although they are packed straight from production, they are not specially sterilized. If you want sterile Combitips advanced, we recommend our Biopur Combitips advanced.

Are Combitips advanced autoclavable?

No. The Combitip advanced is made of two materials which behave differently during autoclaving. This could lead to leakage which affects the performance of the Combitip advanced.

Are the Biopur Combitips advanced tested according to USP and EP?

Yes, they are. This information is also given on the corresponding certificate.

Which adapter is required for the 25 ml Combitip advanced?

This Combitip advanced requires the red adapter, Ord. No. 0030 089.715, Biopur quality Ord. No. 0030 089.731.

Which adapter is required for the 50 ml Combitip advanced?

For this Combitip advanced, the gray Adapter is needed. Order-Nr. 0030 089.723, Biopur Quality, Order-Nr. 0030 089.740

Does a Combitip advanced always have to be filled to the total volume?

No, you can also work with Combitips that are not completely filled. Please note that the 1st dispensing must also be discarded in this case.

Can Combitips advanced be used in food analysis?

The materials used to produce Combitips advanced (50 mL, 25 mL, 10 mL, 5 mL, 2.5 mL, 1 mL, and 0.5 mL) are compliant with the requirements on materials used for articles or components of articles intended to come into contact with food.

Are Combitips advanced resistant to nonane and dodecane?

The Combitips advanced are resistant to nonane and dodecane to a limited extent. We recommend using these chemicals with extra caution and at your own risk. Do not dispense the chemical for a longer period than 10 minutes with the same Combitip advanced, and then change the tip to avoid loss of precision or damage to the piston inside the tip.

Are Combitips advanced resistant to acetonitrile?

Yes, however bleaching of the scale could occur in the long term.

Are Combitips advanced resistant to acids?

Combitips advanced are resistant to most moderate inorganic acids. For example, 10% nitric acid, 60% sulphuric acid, 40% hydrofluoric acid, and 35% hydrochloric acid can be taken up without damaging the Combitip and can be dispensed over a period of several weeks. We are not, however, able to give any information about dispensing accuracy or functionality of liquid dispensing. Also, we are not able to make any generally applicable statements for organic acids since the resistance varies considerably, depending on the acid. For example, the Combitip advanced is resistant to 50% acetic acid at room temperature, but not to butyric acid.

Are Combitips advanced resistant to trifluoroacetic acid?

This substance was tested separately. The test result for trifluoroacetic acid with a concentration below of 50% shows that Combitips can be used. Therefore higher concentrated trifluoroacetic acid (größer 50%) the resistant is dependent on the exposure time.

Are Combitips advanced resistant to PEG 400 (polyethylene glycol)?

This substance was not tested separately. The test result for ethylene glycol on PE and PP shows that Combitips advanced can be used. Pipetting of PEG should therefore also be possible.

Are Combitips advanced resistant to petroleum spirit N28?

The primary components of petroleum spirit are pentane, hexane, and octane. Because the secondary components are unknown, we cannot guarantee that the Combitips advanced are suitable for your application. However, we would be pleased to send you a sample of the Combitips advanced to try out.

What are Combitip Racks made of?

The Combitip Rack is made of polypropylene (PP) and is autoclavable

When must the Combitips advanced advanced adapter for 25 ml and 50 ml be changed?

We recommend cleaning and disinfecting the adapter after each use. Then it can be used for up to 25 Combitips, since there is one new adapter in each package of Combitips advanced.

Are Combitips advanced advanced free from slip agents?

Yes, Combitips advanced are produced without using slip agents. There is a batch-independant certificate available.

Is there a certificate available regarding trace metals?

Yes, there is a lot-unspecific certificate regarding the absence of trace metals available.

Is there a certificate available regarding slip agents (including oleamide, erucamide, stearamide),biocides (including DiHEMDA), plasticizers (phthalates) and BSE/TSE free?

Yes, there is a lot-unspecific certificate regarding the absence of slip agents (including oleamide, erucamide, stearamide),biocides (including DiHEMDA), plasticizers (phthalates) and BSE/TSE available.

Can Combitips ® advanced be used for dispensing high-proof alcohols?

Yes, Combitips ® advanced can be used to dispense high-proof alcohols. Using the 5 mL and 10 mL Combitips ® advanced tip sizes with ≥70 % alcohol the dispenser tips have to be prewetted once with the solution. This volume has to be dispensed including the remaining stroke.
