Can the ColorTag pipette marking rings be autoclaved?

The ColorTag rings are fully autoclavable (121°C, 1 bar overpressure for 20 minutes) with no observed effect on the material. Slight color changes can occur which have no effect on the functionality of the rings.

Do I have to remove the ColorTag pipette marking rings when autoclaving my pipette?

No, the ColorTag pipette marking rings are fully autoclavable and does not interfere with the autoclaving of your pipette.

How to clean, decontaminate and disinfect the ColorTag pipette marking rings?

The ColorTag marking rings can be cleaned with various cleaning agents, e.g. 70% ethanol. Please refer to the chemical resistance chapter in the the ColorTag Instructions for Use (IFU) . It is recommended to clean ColorTag rings and pipettes separately, to allow the cleaning liquid to reach the surface below the ring. The ColorTag rings can be autoclaved either attached or separately from the pipette. It is also possible to sterilize them with UV-C irradiation or H2O2 fumigation.

Are the ColorTag marking rings resistant to UV irradation?

The ColorTag pipette marking rings are resistant to UV-C irradiation with no observed effect on the material. Slight fading can occur which has no effect on the functionality of the rings. We recommend the use of an Hg-lamp, 254 nm, 30 W. The distance between lamp and ColorTag should be approx. 60 cm. A dosage of up to 720 J/cm² UV-C (254 nm) has been successfully tested.

Can the ColorTag marking rings withstand H2O2 fumigation?

The ColorTag pipette marking rings are suitable for H2O2 fumigation with no observed effect on the material.
