Eppendorf Multipette® M4 multi-dispenser, the ThermoMixer© C and Mastercycler® X40 and My Green Lab's ACT label

Eppendorf receives further ACT label as an award for environmentally friendly devices

news

My Green Lab's ACT (Accountability, Consistency, and Transparency) labels function similarly to nutrition labels, providing a comprehensive evaluation of sustainability-related aspects. This enables laboratories to easily assess the eco-friendliness of their suppliers. The certification process includes thorough evaluations of manufacturing processes, energy and water consumption, packaging, and considerations regarding product disposal.

Hamburg

Eppendorf has received the ACT label for more than 150 of its products, and now three more product groups have been added. The Multipette®1) M4 multi-dispenser, the ThermoMixer© C, and the recently launched Mastercycler® X40.

These products join a valued and growing range of Eppendorf laboratory products that have been recognised by My Green Lab for their commitment to environmentally friendly practices, including centrifuges, bio-based laboratory consumables, pipettes, or ULT freezers.

Eppendorf's commitment to sustainability is evident in the manufacturing of all these recently ACT labelled instruments produced in German facilities powered by 100 % renewable energy. Moreover, these facilities have implemented a range of initiatives to minimize energy consumption and waste. With robust Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, including ISO 14001 certification and responsible chemical management, as well as by utilizing recycled and recyclable packaging materials, Eppendorf ensures high standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

About the ACT label

The criteria for the ACT label, also known as the Environmental Impact Factor (EIF) criteria, were developed with input from industry experts and external stakeholders. Scientists, sustainability directors, procurement specialists, and manufacturers all provided valuable feedback on the EIF criteria, resulting in the comprehensive product labeling program for life science products. The ACT label process entails third-party verification of the sustainable impacts of a product, its operations, and its end of life. Completing this process is a significant achievement that offers a baseline and framework for continuous improvement for the manufacturing community. https://act.mygreenlab.org/
