PCR
Explore why PCR remains a cornerstone of DNA and RNA analysis in both research and diagnostics. Discover how this essential technique drives modern science and supports everyday decisions in the lab.
About the PCR workflow
PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a cornerstone technique for amplifying DNA used in virtually all molecular biology labs in R&D, diagnostics, and quality control. Regardless of running endpoint, quantitative, or even digital PCR experiments, the PCR run is preceded by the setup of master mixes and samples. With increasing sample numbers and conditions, this is becoming a tedious and error-prone task to conduct.
Challenges in PCR
- Risk of cross-contamination leading to false positives/negatives
- Need for precise reagent dispensing and mixing
- High-throughput demands and time pressure
- Ensuring reproducibility across plates and runs
