Next-generation sequencing (NGS) requires optimal, thorough sample preparation upstream of the sequencing process to ensure the best possible results. This includes nucleic acid purification, magnetic bead-based cleanups, enzymatic incubations at various temperatures, and small-volume Liquid Handling. Find here why automated Liquid Handling is ideally suited for NGS library preparation.
Questionable sequencing results are one of the most frequent problems or challenges in the NGS workflow. By using automated library preparation and standardized methods the quality and yield of libraries will be more consistent.

NGS library prep is labor intensive and tedious, on the other hand usually various library prep kits need to be processed in one lab. Replacing the error prone long manual procedures by automated Liquid Handling will yield in higher reliability and reproducibility of the sequencing results and can overcome the limited throughput of manual processing.

The hands on time will be reduced by using walk away automation. Usually a NGS library prep takes 2 to 3 days. With automated Liquid Handling the hands on time is between 1 and 2 hours.
