The software included in CellXpert C170i contains copyrighted software that is licensed under the GPL. A copy of that license is included in the settings of the device under “About this CellXpert C170i”. Cleaning/Disinfection: How should I clean/disinfect my CellXpert incubator?

The recommended disinfecting agent for use with the CellXpert incubator is a solution of 70% isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) or ethanol and 30% sterile distilled water. Carefully follow the cleaning guidelines described in your user’s manual. High temperature disinfection (HTD): what is the maximum temperature that is achieved during the HTD cycle of CellXpert incubators?

The maximum temperature of the HTD cycle is 180°C (CellXpert C170i) and 140°C (CellXpert C170) respectively.

Data Export: Can I export performance data from CellXpert incubators?

The CellXpert C170i is equipped with two USB ports on the front panel for quick and easy data export. In addition, you can remotely monitor the status of your CO 2 incubator within the VisioNize ® lab system.

Direct Heating Advantages: I am hesitant to move from a water-jacketed incubator to a direct heat system. Why should I switch?

While water-jacketed (WJ) incubators have, in the past, been suitable for generalized cell culture, they truly are an outdated technology. WJ incubators are bulky, often taking up valuable lab space, offer less capacity in relation to that space, have lower performance and control, are difficult to maintain and do little to prevent contamination. High-temperature disinfection is also not possible in WJ designs. The direct-heat design provides an innovative solution to these issues and is ideal for culture in today’s laboratory.

Maintenance: Are there any parts which should be regularly renewed on my CellXpert?

The filter in the gas supply line should be replaced once per year.

Temperature Control: What is the temperature range for your CO2 Incubators?

The temperature on Eppendorf direct-heat incubators is 4 °C above ambient temperature to 50 °C.

Which safety measures do you recommend regarding the handling of CO 2 and N 2 in the laboratory?

When CO 2 and/or N 2 concentration in the air is too high there is a risk of suffocation. Performing a risk assessment is strongly recommended, independent of the existing national guidelines, if incubators are operated with gases. We recommend implementing measures against the identified dangers, for example: - Measures that issue an alert when critical gas concentration is reached in the laboratory (gas detectors) - Measures that ensure air exchange (ventilation systems) both during normal operation and when a critical gas concentration is reached in the laboratory

Can the door hinge of the CellXpert C170 and C170i be changed from left to right or vice versa?

Yes, the door hinge can be changed directly in your laboratory.

Why should I have my incubator serviced at regular intervals?

Eppendorf Performance Plans offer a selection of preventive maintenance services which ensure a consistent performance of the device and confidence in the results.

How often does my incubator need to be serviced?

This depends on how intensively it is used and varies depending on the load on the device. However, we recommend to have it serviced at least once a year.

What do you need to look out for before carrying out a service?

The device needs to be decontaminated first. The device must be freely accessible and all samples removed from the device. You should also ensure that the device has cooled down already.

What types of service programs are available for incubators?

What is IQ or OQ and what do I need them for?

Installation and operational qualification; the IQ documents that the device has been delivered and installed correctly. The OQ checks the correct functioning of a device. IQ/OQ ensure that your quality management requirements are met and that your device operates properly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

How often does the OQ need to be carried out for an incubator?

The company is responsible for technical checks of devices. Eppendorf recommends regular device qualifications depending on the intensity of use, however, they should be carried out at least once a year.

How can my incubator be cleaned/ disinfected?
