Now they are finally available: Eppendorf Safe-Lock Tubes BioBased. We at Eppendorf know that sustainability and the reduction of their CO2 footprint in the laboratory meanwhile play an important role for our customers. That is why we now also offer the well-known “Eppi®”, the tube that is used in 99 % of all laboratories worldwide, made from 100 % bio-based polypropylene. With the introduction of a new generation of Eppendorf Safe-Lock Tubes BioBased, we are completing our range of “Eppendorf Consumables BioBased”.
Meet your own sustainability targets with Eppendorf Safe-Lock Tubes BioBased
From used Cooking Oil to High-Value laboratory consumables – This is your Sustainable Lab Perspective
Since fossil-based plastic vessels have replaced glass vessels, they have become irreplaceable in laboratories, providing quality standards needed in demanding research. And this is the challenge in respect to sustainability.
The alternative to the fossil-based polymer used for our new Safe-Lock Tubes generation is produced from a specific 100% biobased polymer, made of renewably sourced, reused feedstock like for instance cooking oil.
- The food oil wastes and residues used to produce the renewable feedstock-based polypropylene are traceable to the first collection points
- The renewable feedstock-based polypropylene and all manufacturing steps are sustainability certified by ISCC PLUS – a reliable, world-leading certification system.
- The renewable feedstock content is determined via the ISCC mass balance approach
- The resulting materials for the polyolefins used meet the same strict specifications, purity and quality, regardless of whether they are fossil-based or renewable feedstock-based
The Eppendorf Safe-Lock Tubes BioBased product portfolio comprises tubes in volumes of 0.5 mL, 1.5 mL, and 2.0 mL in Eppendorf Quality and PCR clean.
