The Potential of Hypoxic Culture in Large Scale Expansion of MSC for Therapeutic Purpose in Regenerative Medicine
Lab Academy
MSC production is an expensive and high cost process with a high price to pay for any failure in MSC production. Conventional culture of Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) either in the lab or cGMP facility is mostly in an in the environment with 21% oxygen level. However, stem cells in human tissues live in an environment with much lower oxygen concentration (<5%).
In this webinar, our guest speaker- Dr. Chua Kien Hui will talk about the benefit of culture MSC in hypoxic conditions include an increase in proliferation rate, enhanced paracrine growth factors secretion, better angiogenesis properties as well as with very low risk of tumorigenesis. He will also delve into other tips and best practices that a skilful stem cell production scientist should have to make sure the risk of contamination and cell growth is in the optimum stage.
Date & Time: Webinar took place on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 10am SGT
